This is what my daughters told me when I ask them why we are revamping our website. It doesn’t matter that I’m the boss and I said, “I don’t get it”. From the time they could drive, they have been invaluable in helping Pro-Built grow to be #1 in Maryland, so I trust their instincts.

I started this company 30 years ago, providing a service that gives homeowners pride in their home. From decks to basements, remodeling kitchens and baths, to complete additions and new home construction, I personally oversee each project to ensure it is done on time, in budget, and to the complete satisfaction of not only my customers, but to me, as well. I have built my business on trust, and it has grown because of referrals and repeat customers. We have been the #1 installer of Trex products in the nation since 2008, and voted the Best Remodeler of Howard County for 3 years in a row. With a workmanship warranty of 30 years to stand on, my family and I are devoted to providing you with excellence on your home improvement project.

Enough of this technology stuff…..doesn’t anyone pick up the phone anymore? Can I go back to work now?

What’s my 10-20? Well, everyday at Pro-Built is just another day at the beach.

I’ve been with Pro-Built for 16 years. I still remember my first day on the job with Ed building a pressure treated wood deck. He handed me a posthole digger and said, “Congratulations, you’ve just earned your first ”PHD” (Post Hole Digger…get it?), and told me to start digging. Little did I know then that I would marry his daughter and learn the trade to eventually supervise all field operations. Daisy, my big, hairy girl, has been going to work with me every day for the last 11 years. She’s my best friend and the best dog a guy could have.

You think it’s hard to see your in-laws on holidays? Try everyday! Although it may sound crazy, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I am lucky to be a part of this crazy team, and I wake up every day glad to go to work.

In Biology, you learn an underlying theme of life is that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. For example, a leaf couldn’t perform photosynthesis if it didn’t have water from the roots transported up the stem for the chemical reaction to take place. My role at Pro-Built is to catalyze chemical reactions to take place within each of the parts of the business so that the business as a whole can thrive.

I grew up helping my dad in the office – filing, permit running, and bookkeeping. I went into the education field and got my masters degree in teaching biology because I loved science, yearned for knowledge, and wanted to help others. I taught for 5 years, and realized that I really missed working with my family and at Pro-Built. My dad showed me that I could use my love of learning, my background in science and technology, and interest in working with people to help Pro-Built grow. So my job is to support all areas of Pro-Built by researching methodologies, best practices, and materials to ensure that all systems are operating smoothly. I also work on quality control to make certain that Pro-Built is offering its client-base and trade partners the best-of-the-best.

And, yes, I’m still a Biology geek from time to time.

The Priceless Option

I always enjoyed helping my dad at work when I was growing up. Instead of pretending to play house, my sister and I would pretend to play “office”, and we would file and organize. I also loved to decorate my parent’s house and move furniture around. I was inspired to become an interior designer and decided to give Pro-Built a softer side by starting Barwick Interiors, a division of Pro-Built dedicated to designing, furnishing, and accessorizing spaces. I still get to play “office” at Pro-Built by managing the books. With the help of my wonderful Aunt Sue, who has been working with my dad for 15 years, we take care of all of Pro-Built’s accounts. The best thing about my job is that I get to be with my family every day and do what I love…..

….and that is a priceless option.

My background is in CAD software and sales. I worked at Nemetschek North America, the software firm that created Vectorworks, for many years. I was dating Jessica at the time, and helped out at Pro-Built by providing CAD drawings for their sales team. I ended up working full time at Pro-Built, creating the division Designworks, because there was such a demand for photorealistic renderings. I worked my way into outdoor living sales, and trained our CAD division on how to use Vectorworks and our in-house deck CAD program to support our growing business. I’m now married to Jess and I have two great kids, and I’m back to working at Designworks, selling and training users of the Trex DeckWorks CAD software plug-in. I’m excited about the out-of-the-box direction Pro-Built is taking, and looking forward to showing others how the DeckWorks tool can enhance their business.

I am the voice you hear when you call Pro-Built, and the face you see when you visit. I have worked with Pro-Built for 4 years, and have tried to keep this family organized, which is a task! I am the permit runner, assist with payroll, manage the files, and am everyone’s right hand. I enjoy communicating with clients about their projects, and love to hear when they call back for more work. Ed says I’m the permit charmer because 99% of the time, I come back with the permit in hand. I’ll never give my secret up!

I am good at working under pressure and love the pace at Pro-Built – everyday is a reality show adventure and I am addicted!

The opportunity to start a division in Pennsylvania for Pro-Built is an exciting one. This past year, I learned all phases of Pro-Built and starting in January of 2011, I will officially be opening the doors of the first out-of-state division.

I got to know Pro-Built through my uncle, who is a good friend and long time client of Ed’s. I worked in construction while in college and really enjoyed it. My uncle thought I would be a good match for Pro-Built’s team, and Ed gave me a chance. I’m from Philadelphia and want to provide homeowners in my community with the level of service and quality of work that comes with the Pro-Built name. I am absolutely ready for the challenge and excited to be a part of Pro-Built’s growing team.

It’s nice to be important; but it’s more important to be nice.

I met the Pacylowski family at Highland Day, a local festival that occurs annually in Highland. I live in Highland, and have been working in the home improvement industry since I was 16 years old. I worked with my dad building custom homes, and I learned a great deal from him. That’s why my decision to work at Pro-Built was an easy one; I know what it’s like to work with family, and I really enjoy the positive atmosphere at Pro-Built.

My favorite part of my job is when I have the opportunity to create and work on artistic designs. I like doing custom woodworking, cabinetry, and tile where I can problem solve and construct masterpieces. I also enjoy working with people, transforming their homes and seeing their delight with the finished product. I have the benefit of providing a service to others that brings them happiness – not everyone can say that about their jobs.

I am fortunate that I can.
